Vanderpump's Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright Split After Four Years

Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright announced their separation Thursday. The Vanderpump Rules and The Valley stars wed in 2019.

Cartwright revealed their separation during an appearance on the couple’s joint podcast When Reality Hits.

“Jax and I are taking time apart, and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health,” she said.

Taylor and Cartwright, alumni of Bravo‘s Vanderpump Rules, welcomed their son Cruz Michael Cauchi in 2021. They are next set to star in the VPR spinoff The Valley this spring.

“I’m taking one day at a time,” Cartwright continued on Thursday, adding that “I don’t know what the future holds, but right now my focus is on being the best mom to Cruz and I love you guys. Pray for us and everything will be just fine. We’re good.”

The Valley is set to follow Taylor, Cartwright, Kristen Doute and several newcomers as they trade bottle service in West Hollywood for baby bottles in the suburbs.

The show wrapped filming prior to news of Taylor and Cartwright’s separation, and reps for Bravo later told The Hollywood Reporter that production did pick cameras back up to capture the news. The network recently operated in a similar way when Vanderpump Rules added a bonus episode to capture the fallout of Sandoval on the season 10 finale.

Taylor and Cartwright left Vanderpump Rules in December 2020. Doute was fired from the series (alongside co-star Stassi Schroeder) in June 2020 after calling the police on former castmate Faith Stowers in 2018, associating her in a crime she did not commit.

“I think that they learned a lot, I think they appreciate what it means to be on television and have this opportunity when it’s taken away from them, so I think there’s that,” producer Alex Baskin recently told The Hollywood Reporter of deciding to bring the trio back to TV. “We address the Kristen situation, as well, so it isn’t like we pretend that everything didn’t happen. That comes up and is part of what we cover on the show.”

The Valley premieres on Bravo on March 19.

March 8, 6 p.m. Updated to include from Bravo reps that The Valley picked back up cameras after the news.
